The Special Goodness performed at 17 Nautical Miles on July 6, 1999. The show was opened by the Portland-based band Napkin, and closed by the Redeemers. This was the first concert by the Special Goodness.

Overview

The venue, 17 Nautical Miles, is described as being "tiny [...] pretty much just an empty room and a small stage about 6 inches off the ground."[1] It is estimated that it could have held an audience of 30–40 people, at most. A fan account reports a crowd of around 20 people having gathering outside of the venue prior to the show.[2]

Every song played, except "Conquistadors of Nothing", was unreleased material at the time of the concert. Before "It's Only Natural", the band teases "Carry On My Wayward Son" by Kansas. Pat Finn provided the show's set list in an alt.music.weezer message on July 8, though it excludes "What You Can Forget".[3]

An audience bootleg of the show exists, recorded on tape by All Things Weezer user Getchooski. It was shared between bootleg traders following the concert, but went uncirculated for a number of years afterwards before being posted by Getchooski onto ATW on November 15, 2009. The recording does not include the final two songs performed, "What You're On" and "B.S.".[1] Photos from the show, taken by Andy Roberts, were shared in a Karl's Corner update made on January 21, 2000, however these photos have not been archived.
