Timothy Zachary Mosley (born March 10, 1972), known professionally as Timbaland, is an American musician, record producer, rapper, singer, songwriter and DJ. Though he has never collaborated officially with Weezer, he is referenced on "Pork and Beans," the lead single from the band's 2008 self-titled album.
"Pork and Beans" lyric
- Everyone likes to dance to a happy song
- With a catchy chorus and beat so they can sing along
- Timbaland knows the way to reach the top of the chart
- Maybe if I work with him I can perfect the art
When "Pork and Beans" was written, Timbaland was near the height of his commercial resurgence. His collaborations with Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado were some of the best-selling records of the decade. As "Pork and Beans" was written after Weezer's first Red Album tracklist was denied by Geffen Records for being too downtempo and lacking radio-friendly material, Cuomo was pinpointing a commercially successful artist in the zeitgeist of the day. Despite its rather short shelf-life, the lyric was received fairly well by critics and frequently mentioned in reviews of the Red Album.
