"Untenable" (formerly "Untouchable") is a song demoed by Weezer in 2002 during early recording sessions for the band's then-planned fifth album.

Overview

Rivers Cuomo recorded initial demos ("Untouchable" and "Untenable") to an Olympus handheld digital recorder in 2001. Following completion on the band's fourth album, Maladroit, Weezer immediately began work on a planned fifth album, recording new demos throughout the spring and summer of 2002. Two demos of "Untenable" were shared with fans on the band's official website. Ultimately, all of the demos from the aforementioned sessions were scrapped, and the band's fifth album would not see release until 2005.

Cuomo's original solo demos were released in 2020 as part of the digital compilation Alone VIII: The Maladroit Years.
