Mission To Mars: Let’s Do It

Imagine a future where Earth is a barren wasteland full of people starving and all of the resources gone. Well, if we explore Mars, then maybe this future won’t happen and we can be thriving. We could address some issues on Earth, like overpopulation and the limited resources currently available. We can also discover new resources that can advance technology and other life forms that could be hiding in Mars. Also, we can earn national honor and help the economy grow and more creative people make even more innovative projects. I believe that we should explore Mars because there are so many benefits that far outweigh the potential risks. Mars exploration could lead to more innovation around the world. In the article “Leaving Main Street,” the author explains that groups say a successful space program could add more national prestige, create more jobs in the economy and inspire students to pursue creative projects (Zubrin 120). So if the mission to Mars is successful then people will honor this moment as a one-of-a-kind moment and our national prestige will go up. Also, peace can happen between countries and we could work together with other countries to go further than Mars. Lastly, it will create more jobs in the economy for kids who are inspired to do even more innovative projects. Another reason is the mission to Mars could help us explore more things about the human brain. In the article “Danger! This Mission to Mars Could Bore You to Death,” the author explains that scientists are trying to figure out how to stop boredom because of the long trip to Mars (Koerth-Baker 154). Even if the trip to Mars is not successful then we will find out more about how the brain works. Also, it would help us understand how to stop boredom on important missions like Mars and other planets. Moreover, this will help us discover more about the human brain, even if the mission fails, it will still aid in mental health research. However, some people say that Mars exploration can change us for the worse. In the short story “Dark They Were, and Golden-Eyed,” the characters go to Mars and slowly change-physically and emotionally-until they aren’t human (Bradbury 133). Still, this is fictional and not based on reality or real life facts. Furthermore, people forget that it’s human for people to wonder about what they can’t see so if we don’t explore then we could forget what it feels like to be human. So this is why we should visit Mars because we have so much to gain like all the inspiration and the knowledge. Ultimately, travelling to Mars is worth it even with the potential risks because of all of the benefits. Like national prestige and can inspire students around the world to become more innovative and create more creative projects. Also, it will help us learn more about the human brain to see how to stop boredom and help us be ready for trips to even farther planets. In addition, it will make people feel even more human to finally see and live on a planet with so much mysterious aura around it. Mars will ultimately help the future of humanity- so let’s see what lies beyond just Earth.
