"Falling for You" is the ninth song on Pinkerton. "Falling for You" seems to be a sequel to "El Scorcho", in that it references the playing of a cello, includes the expletive "God damn!", and its very name is a phrase taken from the other song's lyrics. In fact, it was originally slated to be the song to immediately follow "El Scorcho", until "Pink Triangle" was written, and sandwiched between the two. Now that he has summoned the courage to speak to the girl, the narrator is now questioning himself on whether he deserves his position, and how to deal with it.
