Rivers Cuomo performed at T.T. The Bear's Place in Cambridge, Massachusetts on September 26, 1997[1] for the release party of the American Measles debut album as part of a short run of Weezer "try-out" shows. Occurring two months into Weezer's post-Pinkerton hiatus, this concert was Rivers Cuomo's first live performance alongside future Weezer bassist Mikey Welsh, as well as his first show since Weezer's concert at the Paradise in August 1997. In addition to Welsh, Cuomo was joined by Kevin Stevenson (of the band The Shods) on guitar and Zeph Courtney (of Chevy Heston and Stompbox) on drums. American Measles and The Shods also performed.[2] Though never billed or known to the other members as such, Cuomo privately dubbed this "drone-rock" outfit "Lovely."
