==Overview==
The song's lyrics revolve around the American writer and poet Gertrude Stein and her famous sentence "Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose." from the poem ''Sacret Emily''. At the age of 29 Stein moved from the United States to Paris, France where she spent the rest of her life. In the chorus Sharp sings about going to Paris. The French director and actor François Truffaut is also mentioned in the song.
Ironically, a 70s New-Wave band also called The Rentals released a single titled "Gertrude Stein" in 1979.
A Japanese Version of the song was released as part of the deluxe edition release.
