Overview
Rivers Cuomo recorded a demo for "High Up Above" in February of 2001 at LoConto Studios in Sunrise, Florida during Weezer's Yahoo! Outloud Tour.[1] The song was first demoed as a band during sessions at Monster Island Studios in Washington, D.C. "High Up Above" was performed on June 13, 2001 at BBC Studios for the Radio 1 show The Evening Session with Steve Lamacq, where it was later broadcast. Weezer subsequently played the song live through June and July of that year. The aforementioned versions of the song prominently utilize an organ, though this was replaced with guitar when the song was attempted during the Maladroit studio sessions at Cello Studios. The song never appeared on an album and was thereafter retired.
