THIRD ALBUM UNDERWAY...

...in a room where a ton of great records were made, weezer finally got started today on their third album. After much tinkering, a nice drum sound was achieved, and the guys dove into multiple takes each of "Knock-down Drag-out", and "Don't Let Go". The idea is to get near perfect recordings of the drum and bass parts, so that the songs can then be re-layered with additional various guitar, vocal (and whatever else) tracks over time. The band played the songs as a full band, with the amplifiers set up in separate side chambers, so that their loud sounds wouldnt "bleed" into other microphones. All in all an excellent start!

...first the gear was set up and microphones were placed where needed...

...Mikey was happy to be swimming in basses...

...listening back to some experimental recordings, checking how it sounded...

...recording in action...the main tracking room, all laid out...
