Island in the Zoom

Beginning on‍ April 3, 2020, Rivers Cuomo began hosting webinars with fans through the video conferencing platform Zoom during the global COVID-19 pandemic. These calls (later formally dubbed Island in the Zoom[1]) consisted of fan interviews and song performances. Information regarding miscellaneous projects and the forthcoming Van Weezer were revealed to fans. Fans were permitted entry for a small fee (beginning with $1.00, increasing incrementally thereafter up to the final price of $1.69), with certain "panelists" chosen to chat directly with Cuomo. During a separate live-streamed performance hosted by Salesforce Rivers revealed that around 500 fans participate in each webinar.

  • Daniel revealed that he and Ryen Slegr had been working with Rivers on additional songs that did not appear on Everything Will Be Alright in the End, including the unreleased Expatriates in Paris.
  • Daniel mentions he appears on the cover of The Good Life's international EP release (aka "the OZ EP"), which is a photograph from the Pinkerton release show in 1996.
