Jabberjaw
Jabberjaw was a somewhat legendary rock/punk club and coffee shop in the 1990s.
Overview
Jabberjaw was located at 3711 Pico Blvd. in Los Angeles. A wide array of notable acts graced the stage at one time or another, including Weezer, that dog., Nirvana, Teenage Fanclub, Beck, Sonic Youth, The Beastie Boys, and Elliott Smith.
The club was started in 1989 by Gary Dent and Michelle Carr. Although much-beloved, the club had a hard time keeping afloat, and two benefit albums were compiled to aid the establishment. Sadly, the influential venue closed its doors permanently in 1997, squashing the owners' dreams of moving the club to a bigger venue.
The club is mentioned in the song "Minneapolis", from that dog.'s 1997 album Retreat From The Sun.
