"La Mancha Screwjob" is the ninth track from Pacific Daydream.
Overview
["La Mancha Screwjob" is about someone I once worked with and] having mixed feelings about them as a collaborator, but ultimately realising we’re much better than anything I can do on my own. Owning up to the mistakes I made in that relationship and reaffirming the value I see in that relationship.

"La Mancha Screwjob" was originally written for Weezer's 2014 album Everything Will Be Alright in the End,[2] but "didn't fit" on the album. The version on Pacific Daydream is purportedly mostly unchanged, lyrically, from the earlier iteration.[2] The intro and outro to the song feature vocal screeches, likely Cuomo's voice manipulated in Pro Tools by Butch Walker.[2]
The significance of the title "La Mancha Screwjob" is unknown. La Mancha is a region of Spain, and "La Mancha Screwjob" is the title of a 2015 episode of the podcast RadioLab.[3] The song was co-written by Rivers Cuomo and Josh Alexander. The song may have originally been titled "Summer Night", based on the song's chorus and an entry in the ASCAP Repertory credited to Cuomo and Alexander.[4]

Audio
Lyrics
Been alone so many times before
Time's a-wastin', time's a-wastin'
Singing songs behind a bolted door
Time's a-wastin', time's a-wastin'
And now the clock keeps ticking on
It's like my own private time bomb
But then you came along
And now we're famous
You and I, we do it right
Hanging out on a summer night
We've come so far, we shine so bright
Hanging out on a summer night
We're getting stronger, stronger
Going faster, faster, woah, woah
You and I, we do it right
Hanging out on a summer night, again
I screwed it up so many times before
I'm like a hoodlum, like a hoodlum
But when you're near I wanna stop the war
And be a porch bum, be a porch bum
I guess I want to apologize
As I look you in the eyes
We'll break through to the other side
And that's a promise
You and I, we do it right
Hanging out on a summer night
We've come so far, we shine so bright
Hanging out on a summer night
We're getting stronger, stronger
Going faster, faster, woah, woah
You and I, we do it right
Hanging out on a summer night, again
I love life with you, with you
I love life with you, with you
I'm an early riser
Since the day I met you
And I love life with you, with you, with
You and I, we do it right
Hanging out on a summer night
We've come so far, we shine so bright
Hanging out on a summer night
We're getting stronger, stronger
Going faster, faster, woah, woah
You and I, we do it right
Hanging out on a summer night, again
