Overview

According to the Weezer Recording History, the song was demoed acoustically at the band's rented office space on September 7, 2003, as a potential track for the band's planned fifth album. The song was one of hundreds of demos leaked onto riverscuomo.com on November 7, 2020. A few days later, on November 11, the song was listed and quickly sold to a user on the site's demo storefront, where it was thereafter shared among fans.

The song was later demoed for what would eventually become Weezer's ninth album, Everything Will Be Alright in the End. The demos were released as part of the digital compilation Alone XI: The EWBAITE Years.

Lyrics

2003 Office version

In the morning I rise
Wipe a tear from my eyes
There is nothing to say
It's another new day

Attention deficit
Attention deficit
Attention deficit
Disorder

I have tried to be smart
But I can't play my part
I am damaged inside
I can learn how to hide

Attention deficit
Attention deficit
Attention deficit
Disorder

Can you hold me?
Can you scold me?
I need someone to learn me

Attention deficit

I could be something great
But don't know what to make
My life passes me by
I don't even know why
