You like me, I like you
And we're lying beneath the sun
The words that you told me have become
A dagger in my back
And the battle is all but won
Cry for the victor, 'cause she's done
Taking off your clothes was all that you could do
To hurt me back so bad when I was hurting you
Taking off your clothes was all that you could do
To hurt me back so bad when I was hurting you
A dagger in my back
And the battle is all but won
I like you and we're lying beneath the sun
I like you and we're lying beneath the sun
Whoa

Overview
Rivers Cuomo recorded the initial demo, "Beneath the Sun," to an Olympus handheld digital recorder in 2001.[1][2] Following completion on the band's fourth album, Maladroit, Weezer immediately began work on a planned fifth album, recording new demos throughout the spring and summer of 2002. Three demos of "The Victor" were shared with fans on the band's official website. Ultimately, all of the demos from the aforementioned sessions were scrapped, and the band's fifth album would not see release until 2005.
Cuomo's original demo ("Beneath the Sun") was released in November of 2020 as part of the digital demo compilation Alone VIII: The Maladroit Years.

Do you see the good times
And the positive plans we made?
We had a connection that I'll crave
When I felt cold and blue
You could turn it into a smile
Bleak pessimism was our style
Now you're bent on doing all that you can do
To hurt me back so bad while I am hurting you
Now you're bent on doing all that you can do
To hurt me back so bad while I am hurting you
Taller men can observe
And predict the smartest moves
So we jump and we stretch
But we can't see out of our bruise(?)
Whoa
Remember the good times
And the laughing plans we made?
We had a connection that I'll crave
When I felt cold and blue
You could turn it into a smile
Bleak pessimism was our style
Taking off your clothes is all that you can do
To hurt me back so bad while I am hurting you
Taking off your clothes is all that you can do
To hurt me back so bad while I am hurting you
Taller men will observe
And predict the smartest moves
So we jump and we stretch
But we can't see above our bruise(?)
Whoa
