9/15/01 Rocking hard in Vegas: keep on keepin' on

...Today the tour resumed, regaining a small semblance of normalcy as the trucks were unloaded, the stage set up, the lights rigged up, and the guitars tuned up once again. after going just "1 for 3" in the tour so far due to the horrible attacks over on the East coast, the guys were ready to rock some fears and worries away!

...Today's line up was different than it will be for the rest of the tour: substituting for Cold was L.A.'s Ozma, who also opened back in February and March on the Outloud Tour. It was great to see those guys (and gals) again, and the mini-reunion was a great birthday gift for both myself and Ozma's Daniel, who, as it turns out, shares my birthday. No wonder we keep finishing each others sentences....just kidding. First, the Start rocked things out in a sort of aggro nu-wave style, though their funny little dog did not join them onstage as I'd hoped. then Ozma came up and did their thing to the delight of what was clearly a crowd that contained a good deal of Ozma devotees!

...Ozma (doing their thing)...

...And finally, weezer delivered a smokin' set, that gained some rave reviews from all sides- I gotta agree, it was really an exceptional show! Everyone was full of energy, smiles all around, Scott was looking a lot more relaxed and confident, and the mood was one of celebration and strength! I think this show was really what everyone needed after the horrific news of late and the frustrating and saddening show cancellations. Even a little guitar mix up didnt seem to faze Rivers, who took it in stride and seemed to really enjoy himself up there.
