Overview

Scene from The Space Between

The lyric "Have some more Sprite" was lifted by Rivers Cuomo from the script of the 2021 film The Space Between (written by Will Aldis), wherein the character Micky Adams (Kelsey Grammer) encourages Charlie Porter (Jackson White) to "have some more 'Sprite'" (actually a beverage laced with drugs). Cuomo, who sometimes employs the use of Python scripting to choose lyrics, confirmed the connection in December of 2021, telling a fan, "I put the movie script into my machine. And when I was writing Piece of Cake, it suggested that line. I chose it without remembering where it came from." Cuomo has stated that the "Betty" mentioned in the lyrics was a nonagenarian neighbor who moved away.
