"Respect" is the thirteenth track from Deliverance at Hand!, a collection of demos recorded by Rivers Cuomo in 2007 for consideration for Weezer's then-planned sixth album (released in 2008 as The Red Album). The song was released to fans as part of the digital compilation Alone X: The Red-Raditude-Hurley Years.

Background
"Respect" was demoed acoustically by Cuomo in 2007, though did not ultimately make the cut for The Red Album. The song's lyrics first became known in May of 2018, when a booklet containing lyrics for all of the Deliverance at Hand! songs were acquired and uploaded to Weezerpedia by user Okaybrazilian. Both the original Deliverance at Hand! demo, as well as a revised demo of the song (which omits the "You think you are in control..." bridge), were released to fans as part of the digital compilation Alone X: The Red-Raditude-Hurley Years on November 22, 2020.
