Weezer performed at the Main Stage of Reading Festival in Reading, England on August 23, 1996, during the Pinkerton Tour. Weezer played beside Rage Against the Machine and the Offspring.
The gig was broadcasted on Radio 1 FM. A few of these songs ("Why Bother?", "El Scorcho" and "Pink Triangle") later appeared on disc 2 of the Deluxe Edition of Pinkerton. During the set, Matt Sharp announced that "El Scorcho" would be the next single, which was released later in September.
