10/23/05 you can't go to town
...MB '05 Tour: Day 126: Foozer/Wee Fighters #22: Long Beach Arena #2 - Long Beach, CA
Another night in the giant fishbowl! Back in LBC one more time, the Foozer tour double dips in the LA basin and comes up full both times. Outside, the micro KROQ promo stage featured a flying =w= made out of metal truss parts, and inside the real thing waited in hiding till near the end of the weezer set before rising to a mighty roar from the crowd. Tonights show was a variation on last nights, with a few different songs in the set, but the overall effect was very similar - a wicked rock assault. Backstage there was a somewhat more relaxed vibe today, probably due to a sense of familiarity with the building and no need to travel to get to a new place. So it felt like the pressure was off a little bit, as opposed to some LA area shows that are the 'one and only' LA appearance. This relaxed sense led to a band that was pretty much enjoying itself onstage.
Big ups to Adam O., Jeff R. of The Power Cords, Todd S, and of course Atom of TSG and Offspring...all in the house tonight.
Thanks to Luis helping out on Undone with the acoustic tonight. This was Luis's second time up this year, but it was his first free Washburn guitar from weezer! Superfan: superstoke.

"...I just got back from the show, and it was amazing. Congrats to you, the guys, and the crew for putting up such a good show. Don't want to give away too many secrets, but it was really great seeing Island In the Sun, Say It Ain't So, and all the Pinkerton stuff they played. The lights were amazing, and that would have been really cool to be that guy who played the acoustic. Rivers sounded awesome, and the guitar work was great... there's nothing bad I can say about it.
