On this day in 1997, Weezer playes the Termont Music Hall in Charlotte, NC, in support of Pinkerton, with Nerf Herder opening. One fan's account: "...We showed up at Tremont Music Hall 4 hours early. It was cold, and none of us thought it wise to wear a jacket. As we were standing there, a white van pulled up, and we saw the unmistakable face of Rivers Cuomo pop through the door, and skuttle into the venue. The other members cruised in, and Brian stopped to say, "what's up." A couple of minutes later we were treated to a kick ass version of "In the Garage," during soundcheck. The line was starting to grow behind us (we were the only ones that got to hear the sound check!) We got inside, and began to thaw when the band Nerf Herder took the stage. Because we were lucky enough to catch a show during the Pinkerton tour, we heard "You Gave Your Love to Me Softly," "Pink Triangle," "Tired of Sex," and "El Scorcho." The show rocked hard, and it was awesome to see =W= in a small venue like Tremont (less than 800 capacity, I think.) After the show, I snuck off and passed my ticket stub to Brian, who passed it to Rivers. Rivers signed the stub, and I went back to my friends to gloat. Little did I know, Rivers was following me out of the dressing room. He sat down on a couch (random, I know...but the place has a lounge....) My friend Corey sat down next to Rivers. Rivers looked really nervous, and I felt bad for harassing him. In the end, we all got our t- shirts, and ticket stubs signed..." Photo shows Brian hanging out with fans Leslie and Ashleigh Ellsworth (original fanclub member #0629) outside after the gig.
