Biography
Jose Galvez was born and raised in Singapore until 1988.[1] Galvez is best known as a guitarist, vocalist, and founding member of Ozma. When joining Ozma it is reported he had no knowledge of playing guitar and speedily he learned in two weeks.[2] After Ozma's split in 2004, Galvez and Ozma bandmate Ryen Slegr formed the band Yes Dear. Shortly after Ozma's mid-2000s hiatus, Galvez released an eponymous solo album. He has since released two more solo projects, an album, jglp2, and an EP, Gwinn Park.
Collaborations with Weezer/Rivers Cuomo
- Galvez contributed an instrumental cover of the Weezer song "The World Has Turned and Left Me Here" for the 1996 compilation album Weezer Fanclub Cover Compilation Vol. 1.
- Galvez gifted Cuomo a copy of his album Rock and Roll Part Three during the Vans Warped Tour, directly leading to Galvez's band Ozma opening for Weezer on the Yahoo! Outloud Tour.[3]
- Galvez helped Cuomo by playing guitar in a live studio rendition of "Can't Stop Partying" in 2009.[4]
- Galvez is Weezer Fan Club member #1296.
