Dusty Gems & Raw Nuggets (also released as Weezer: Rarities Edition) is a collection of B-sides, demos, and pre-production recordings from Weezer's eponymous debut album (The Blue Album). It was initially released as the second disc on the 2004 Deluxe Edition CD release of The Blue Album. A standalone CD release, titled Weezer: Rarities Edition, was released in January of 2010. The collection was released as a standalone blue marble colored vinyl LP (again under the title Dusty Gems & Raw Nuggets) in April of 2019 as an exclusive release for Record Store Day 2019, and was limited to 4,000 copies.

Overview

The songs "Mykel and Carli", "Susanne", and "My Evaline" were originally released as B-sides. "Jamie" originally appeared on the compilation DGC Rarities, Vol. 1. Live recordings of "My Name Is Jonas", "Surf Wax America", "Jamie", and "No One Else" were also originally released as B-sides. Three demo recordings ("Undone - The Sweater Song", "Paperface", and "Only in Dreams") were recorded in 1992 for Weezer's second demo (The Kitchen Tape). The previously unreleased songs "I Swear It's True" and "Lullaby for Wayne" were recorded at S.I.R. Studios in Manhattan with Ric Ocasek on August 11, 1993. Also included in the collection is the original mix of "Say It Ain't So", included on initial pressings of The Blue Album.

The original single release of "Susanne" and an unspecified version of "You Gave Your Love To Me Softly" were intended to be included as bonus tracks on the Japanese Deluxe Edition of The Blue Album[1] but were, ultimately, not included.
